Ab-Tone: Intensive neuromuscular Stimulation of the Abdominals

Ab-Tone is a non-invasive neuromuscular electrical stimulation (EMS) treatment designed to strengthen and tone the abdominal muscles. EMS technology delivers controlled electrical impulses that trigger deep, targeted muscle contractions—similar to, and often more effective than, voluntary contractions achieved through exercise alone.

This treatment provides intensive activation of the abdominal muscle group, helping improve strength, tone, and core stability—without surgery, needles, or downtime. Ab-Tone is a modern solution for individuals looking to improve their abdominal area, enhance posture, or complement a fitness program.

What is the Ab-Tone treatment?

Ab-Tone is a medical treatment that uses electrical muscle stimulation to improve abdominal muscle tone. Electrodes are placed on the targeted area to produce controlled, repeated muscle contractions.

How does neuromuscular stimulation work?

Electrical impulses directly stimulate the motor nerves, causing involuntary and deep muscle contractions. This process promotes neuromuscular re-education and activates more muscle fibers than voluntary effort alone.

Who is Ab-Tone for?

Ab-Tone is suitable for adults who wish to:

  • Strengthen their abdominal muscles
  • Improve abdominal tone and firmness
  • Support posture and core stability
  • Complement an active lifestyle or fitness routine

A preliminary consultation is always performed to confirm eligibility.

What are the benefits of Ab-Tone?

  • Targeted abdominal muscle strengthening
  • Improved muscle tone and firmness
  • Optimized muscle recruitment (e.g., asymmetry between both sides)
  • Deep muscle activation
  • Non-invasive, safe, medically supervised treatment
  • No recovery time required

What does a session feel like?

During treatment, you will feel rhythmic and intense muscle contractions, adjusted to your comfort level. The sensation is generally well tolerated. After the session, mild muscle soreness or temporary muscle spasms—similar to a challenging workout—may occur.

How many sessions are needed?

Ab-Tone is typically offered as a series of treatments, depending on your goals, initial muscle condition, and response to stimulation. A personalized treatment plan is created during your consultation.

Are there any contraindications?

Yes. Ab-Tone is not recommended for individuals with:
  • Active implanted electrical devices (e.g., pacemakers)
  • Pregnancy
  • Certain medical conditions

All contraindications are reviewed during the consultation to ensure safety.

Are the results permanent?

Results vary from person to person. A healthy, active lifestyle and maintenance sessions can help preserve and enhance long-term results.

Can Ab-Tone replace exercise?

No. Ab-Tone is designed as a complement to physical activity, not a replacement. It is especially beneficial for activating hard-to-engage abdominal muscles and fits best within a comprehensive wellness approach.

Recommandations

Recommandations before treatment
Please ensure that your abdominal area is clean and free from lotions, oils, or creams prior to treatment.

Please inform us if you have undergone abdominal surgery within the past 12 months, if you have an implanted electrical device (e.g., pacemaker), or if you have an active abdominal hernia.

Any metal implants in the treatment area must be removed prior to your session.

Your appointment will need to be rescheduled if you have an active skin infection, significant skin irritation, or any inflammatory condition affecting the abdominal area.
Recommandations after treatment
It is normal to experience a sensation of muscle fatigue or heaviness in the treated area.
Active exercises should be performed 3 to 4 times per week to optimize results. Below is an example of a simple abdominal strengthening exercise:

The plank is a highly effective core exercise for strengthening the abdominal muscles and improving posture. The rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques, and transverse abdominis are intensely engaged. This exercise also helps strengthen the back and gluteal muscles.

For additional information on recommended exercises, feel free to ask for referrals to physiotherapists.
